Dehydrated

These hearts fill to the brim with greed
Until they spill over and pour out need
To battered streets with broken glass
And bloodied fields of greener grass
Bobbing cats that keep afloat
Hating water in a copycat boat
To swallows of pride that never sing
And rusted bells that cease to ring
A cactus lies across the shore
I don't even know what I mean to say anymore
