Pigeon Songs (Dying World)

Hope for a better world is what I believe,
While you are the dying world I cannot leave.
This is a burden I cannot carry any longer,
You made my heart heavy but hope made it stronger.

From a frozen heart to learning how to cry
Reignited by a last goodbye
The things that burn also give you fire,
Nightmares are dreams that pain inspire.

I love this river though its fish are dead,
And passenger pigeon songs though they're in my head.
A world we loved but couldn't save,
If we stay will be our grave.

So through the smog and toxic waste,
Unbalanced chems and old names debased,
I'll bid goodbye to this dying world,
Marching away with a new flag unfurled.

When even the ground was dead and rejected seed
It proved I'm alive by making me bleed.
Growing after fear is how we learn to cope,
And now I'm not afraid to believe in hope.

(Extended Version)
Carry a better world inside,
For others to see when they look in your eyes.
Grow a better world with past tears we cried,
Until we meet again on the outside.
