Skyglow and faith

There are some nights when for whatever reason we can't see the stars from where we are, but that doesn't make us doubt whether or...

Sad hydrology (early hours rambling, Meet You at the Outlet)

Hydrology. Aside from stats, hydrology is one of my favourite applications of math. (How you wrapped your head around economics still puzzles me. Oh yeah, I told you this already. It's nice that we have come full circle with numbers together.)

We talked about the water cycle in the meeting today, and it reminded me of our conversation about the river. I'm glad we got to talk about it.

My sweet friend, I wish you could have stayed with me longer. But I know you will be there at the outlet.

You beat me to it.

I remain a river searching for the sea. I cry my eyes out and cry out all the tears, threatening to leave the river dry.

But as I have faith that a river is fed by rain, I have faith that I can be sustained enough to meet you at the outlet.

Meet you at the sea.

I am a river searching for the sea

A river searching for the sea.

I don't know where I am going,

The path's ahead's sinuosity.

But still I wait knowing

I am where I am supposed to be

Windward and windwise.
Seaward and seawise.
Treewards and treewise.
Onward, open skies.

Seahorse sketch

This seahorse makes me want to switch to the indigo theme.
Really liking AutoCAD classes... might do a mini personal project with this little one.

“Please say hello to the ocean for me.”

“Please say hello to the ocean for me.”
This is something now ask all my friends when they go away. Often they’ll ask what I want. I would like them to do this more than anything they could bring back.

Dreams of being a tidepool

An ocean wave that dreams of being a tidepool.

"Cold and crashing and breaking, when I'd rather give warm kisses on ankles and be calm and colourful." she says.
"Instead I take down ships and rise in storms,
Everything is up and down, with dangerous highs and endless lows."

People leave things with me they hope to never see again,
And release messages in bottles full of everything they wish they told someone else.

People say they love the depths but it terrifies them,
And how can you blame them?

Seven

Six for the strings on a guitar
No, seven for heart string to bring it far
A hundred thousand million colourful stars
Let's gaze up and write our stories down.

Sail across the seven seas
But oh so more than seven wonders of the Galaxy
Never stop wondering how much we do not know
Connecting the dots though they'll never complete
So keep your eyes open for this nightlight show

Stand

We each play our rant in a soulful debate
But my soul feels empty when it's full of hate
Say we'll slam issues down
All I've done is poetry slap around
Say the world aint fair with less love and more war
Sit for felled forests, what do we stand for?
All the echoes said words from deep my head
Letters wrote from a dreary soft sleepless bed
Up-made words and downplayed strife
Trying to fulfil some purpose in life
With sharp words and actions like a butter knife
Making biggest waves with naught but tears still cried
Nautical dreams where I wish I died
Racking up guilt like thunderstorms
Dear up in the sky you know all to well
How hard we've tried.
Tomorrow may come but I can't stand a difference made
Defined by which of the rants is replayed
Trade knowledge for wisdom try to understand
Yet no matter how strong I promise to stand
Without faith I sink in the sea
Will I see more the wind or You in front of me?

A Seabird’s Wing

Lonely sailor so far from home
feeling so lost and forlorn.
Why must the lovely petrel
be named after the storm?

Why do we call the albatross
Lost Wandering or sad Tristan?
Meaning sadness and alone but still
Deeper meaning, just listen.

Ship tossed in furious waves,
fleeting hope in the wind.
Sobbing heavens black,
Fog cannot be thinned.

Little hope left in the storm,
Necessary for weather.
Still loneliness is not,
It is better together.

In the midst of the tempest,
Hope always will be around.
Somewhere in the salty air
A seabird can be found.

Guardians of explorers
a source of courage, a friend.
Ever loyal through any storm,
In any gale to the end.

So that is why the seabirds
Give sailors reason to sing.
Courage can always be found,

Upon a seabird’s wing.

A Walk on the Beach

A Walk on the Beach

The morning-fresh waves wash up on the beach,
washing away my footprints and tickling my feet.

A salty scent gets caught in the breeze swirling through the warm, air,
blow across the beach to graze the shells of beauty with no compare.

The palm trees dark against the rising sun on the horizon,
As they dance with the wind with such grace it's as if they are one.

Peaceful , and quiet, it's how it should be.
Peace is good for for both you and for me.

As you sit down on the pale, white sand,
The rising sun's rays reach you like the fingers of a hand.

They warm you and bring renewed energy,

on your walk on the beach, by the cold, salty sea.

SETTLING DUST

My eyes are pouring
Out a waterfall
But despite the tears I can't
Even feel anything.
At all.

This silence is deafening
As if my ears forgot how to hear,
Numbness replacing pain
I wish I could wish you were here.

From a burning heart and a head behind
Following words lips grope to find.
Will I forget how to write and feel?
Will I bend or break or kneel

To the blanching that many do succumb
Society's machine that beats you numb.

I don't want to forget how to write
Or ever give up in this fight
Please leave me to get lost in the night
I'll be just fine by the moonlight

Life's not worth the ride
If you can't fight the pulling tide
Feel the pain to feel the joy
The regret of ever having loved a boy

Please don't let me lose this rhyme
Or let love sink in the stream of time
But all streams lead to the ocean I guess
But I don't want emotions lost in the sea of consciousness.

There must be light and there must be dark
For catharsis emotion must be stark
Though once I wished to cry no more
Now I'm waiting at my door
For a feeling a knock or ring
Something that will make my soul sing
A knock or the beat and ring for the flow
Wisdom gained and feelings to know.
Something old from distant past
But throughout life will never pass
Reclaim a muse and reinspire,
Be the pow of the heart with a heart on fire.

No afraid to feel again
Mourning the loss of a friend,
Reminiscing on a time once told
Imparting messages from a soul too old
Never forgetting what was once known
And all the love and hatred they've shown,
And all the bitterness and dolce tim ugh in the soul,
Feeling again is the goal

Donor forsake the past
But do not stay there too long
So that ears can keep a lookout
For the next words of song.
