"To build trust, tell the truth."
This cannot be overstated. Being able to commit the truth to memory, then being able to express it properly when it has to be said are important steps in carrying through with this.
Whether you are in fundraising, business, or environment, it is so important to know the truth, and then convey it in a way that is accurate, and understandable.
Exactly what makes it possible for the truth and the facts to be unserstood will be different depending on the situation. Sometimes directness and clarity must be prioritized; if you mishandle this substance, it could put the lives of people in this lab at risk. In other instances, being tactful to avoid making a person feel defensive, and increase how well they are able to hear and understand what you are saying.
Simon Sinek posted that opening recently. Though I'm sure he would be the first to admit that he is not the first to make that statement, I am glad that a person with such a wide influence and reach dared to throw that out onto a platform full of contrarians.
The statement "to build trust, tell the truth" is a fundamental truth that I believe should not be stepped around.
