Today, the ice forms in hieroglyphs

Today the ice forms in hieroglyphs. I analyze its formations on the window, trying to decode some sort of message.

You would have loved it. Even if today wasn't today, you'd be the first person I go to tell.

Perhaps it is like hieroglyphs, or perhaps it is more like shufa calligraphy, explaining what keeps me trying to read it. I stare at it; the way the water sticks to itself as it freezes, the way the light refracts through. The texture and the patterns, looking to decode a meaning beyond nothingness.

The Creator set its reliability in motion; the endless of water's continuity through states and seasons, sustaining life. You loved the water, and helped me to love instead of fear it, too. You changed me.

Like the water, I believe you were never meant to disappear.

Once again I find myself standing in the snow while praying for rain. Waiting for the coldness to end or rather for the warmth to begin. I wish it was summer; maybe the world could have been warm enough.

Instead, I wait.
