He couldn't even speak.
No sobbing, but simply turning through the streets with tears rolling.
I apologized, and said sorry I didn't emphasize enough that it's sad.

This song sounds like the very sound of crying itself, to me. The verses morph and rise in grief, and the breaths between lines sound like breaths between sobs.
