Skyglow and faith

There are some nights when for whatever reason we can't see the stars from where we are, but that doesn't make us doubt whether or...

Sunset, goats, mom, and a beautiful and meaningful weeken

Blue and Orange is such a beautiful combination. It is both vibrant and relaxing at the same time.

Maybe these words come from an association with a time of transition, where you also stop to t ake a moment to notice.

The transition of night and day, before the busy, or after it.

Mom and I are watching the sun set over water in this remote town with silhouettes of trees; there is smooth driftwood, white-gray rocks, and autumn leaves. A few birds are flying, the breeze is soft and smells of the leaves. The waves gently lap on the shore.

We talk about the colours. The pallette of the white-gray but slightly warmed by surrounding brown rocks, light but not sterile, rather with depth in both it's colour and textures, with the warmth and vibrance of the autumn sunset around it creating beautiful balance.

Mom talks about how the purple pink and blue behind look almost too perfect, like if it was painted it would look unreal. We talk about the bakance dog consistency and perceived chaos. How God's creation of all this is perfect atyestry; how beautiful even this tree missing most of its leaves is.

We talk about how our perception of what is already beautiful, the adjustment of our eyes and focusing lets us take it in in a way that makes not only the subject beautiful, but our experience of it.

We take photos of eachother, the sunset, the clouds, the sky, the plants in the foreground, the stones.

We get a bit giddy an excited that our blue and beige and white and gray match the landscape so well, that we both have a bit of plaid, and take a couple pictures together with the sun set in the back, and with the golden hour on our face.

Mom takes a fun, conversation video, with the sound of wave and setting sun setting our pace.

We had such a great day together, in spite of some stomachache. Meeting farm animals, each bonding with a cat named Luna and goat I've nicknamed Luz, respectively; meeting nice people; stopping for rests, deep talks, excitable moments, and to smell the roses all along the way.

Even drives we know where we are going have been opportunities to panic over directions for a moment, then quickly pivot to enjoying the view, getting excited about goats, and going on an adventure together to seek out meeting them. (And we did!) #goodgift #gratitude

And all this part of a weekend with wonderful meaning, for a couple friends we love and who love us.

We excitedly marvel at the most slight subtle warm streations in the sky, slightly pinkish broad rays pointing to the sun, through the cool blue.

She points out how lights from buildings across the water twinkle in our perception.

I point the camera on her as she did to me, and she repeats our home of the night, awkwardly saying "look over there" and pointing at the sunset. 😂

Appreciating the sound of the water on the rocks, we wonder what makes currents and rolling waves against the shore the way they are, and get to googling.

Several factors but mostly the wind. It makes sense then that the small lake we usually go to doesn't have it but this big Lake does; the wind is less interrupted and momentum can be picked up.

We read on then get ready to pack up as the sky darkens, to continue the nice evening somewhere else.

These are just a few snippets of our conversations, experiences, and sights of this good gift of a beautiful day.

In spite of the earlier stomachache, everything but fast food is closed and it looks like we are set to make the brie pasta back at the hotel for dinner. Let's see how this goes XD

We may also swing by the store to pick up a fun drink on the way back.
